Origins as Swallow Sidecar Company

  • 1922: William Lyons and William Walmsley founded the Swallow Sidecar Company in Blackpool, England.
  • Initially, the company specialized in motorcycle sidecars before transitioning into car body manufacturing.

The Birth of the Jaguar Name

  • 1935: The company introduced the SS Jaguar 2.5 Litre Saloon, the first car to carry the Jaguar name.
  • 1945: After World War II, the company rebranded to Jaguar Cars Ltd., dropping the "SS" due to its association with Nazi Germany.

Performance and Innovation

  • 1948: Introduced the Jaguar XK120, the world’s fastest production car at the time.
